Disgruntled Xbox One owners who are awaiting replacement consoles after faulty Blu-ray drives revealed themselves following the launch of the hardware last week, are to receive a free digital download from Microsoft.

The platform holder is responding in order to keep customers "in the game", and is offering players one of four different titles to keep them busy while they await replacement consoles.

Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome and Zoo Tycoon are the games in question. In a statement sent to Polygon, Microsoft said: "While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game. We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios."
