Whilst not as crippling as the Red Ring of Death, there's been widespread reports of Xbox One disc drives failing. Whilst it's not affected us personally, we had word from one retailer that several consoles were returned to just one store, though how widespread the problem is remains to be seen.

Since the initial reports surfaced, Microsoft sent the following statement sent to Kotaku: "The issue is affecting a very small number of Xbox One customers. We're working directly with those affected to get a replacement console to them as soon as possible through our advance exchange program. Rest assured, we are taking care of our customers."

For now it seems like this issue is affecting a minority of gamers, and Microsoft will hope it remains as such, especially if they're having to replace faulty consoles. Since the launch of PlayStation 4 in North America, some users have been reporting the Blue Light of Death, although Sony has stated a failure rate of just 0.4 percent.
