Paladins spinoff Realm Royale is on Steam Early Access
It's free-to-play right now.
After a few days of alpha tests, Hi-Rez Studios has decided to make a standalone game that inherits every fantasy pattern of the main Paladins game and adds its own concepts to the battle royale formula. This was once known as Paladins: Battlegrounds when it was first announced, but it's now got a different name and is a standalone package.
It's neither a plane nor a bus, but a zeppelin that drops players into this colourful world, but before that, everyone has to choose a class between assassin, warrior, hunter, engineer, or mage, each one with different abilities. Realm Royale has been designed to be played in teams of four players, and Hi-Rez says: "The classes are designed to support one another, with Assassins planting Sensor Drones to scout for their teammates, while Warriors can toss Shielding Potions to protect squishy Hunters."
Looting is also quite different to other battle royale games, as here players need to craft Legendary Weapons at the Forges. When one is used, however, the smoke alerts enemies, so it's a risk vs rewards system.
You can learn more about the game in the developer diary below or try it now since the Steam Early Access version is free to play. Do you like the ideas behind it.
