Paladins: Champions of the Realm has often been compared to Blizzard's Overwatch, with Hi-Rez jokingly pointing out not too long ago that the new Overwatch-hero Brigitte looked suspiciously similar to their champion Ash, saying on Twitter:

"Quick poll: If I happened to notice and point out any similarities between these two characters, would that make me the Pot calling the Kettle black, or the Kettle calling the Pot black? This will keep me up tonight unless I get a clear answer."

Now the shoe is on the other foot, as Hi-Rez is being accused of copying from Overwatch, but this time there might be something to it, although Hi-Rez accepts no responsibility for the incident. Some fans noticed a striking similarity between Overwatch's Lijiang Tower map and the background of some splash art for Paladins Strike, Hi-Rez's Paladins mobile game, as in the picture in question we see Paladins champion Lex in front of a cityscape that looks a lot like the the Overwatch map. You can see a GIF overlaying the two images here. What do you think?

The art director for the game said the image was created by "an overseas partner studio", and that Hi-rez wasn't to blame for the "theft":

"Moving forward we are well underway in a bit of a shift in how I plan to see our splash art executed to make things feel a little more unique to Paladins that should hopefully allow us to control content creation better with a larger quality of output to boot. Stay tuned."

REVIEW. Written by Sam Bishop

"Considering it's free-to-play Paladins might just win you over if you give it a try, and we'd definitely recommend you to do so."
