Overkill's The Walking Dead has been somewhat in limbo after its launch last year, as publisher Starbreeze filed for reconstruction in December and the future of the game was placed in doubt. This applies especially to console users who, after hearing news of a delay last month, have now heard rumblings they might not be getting it at all.
An image from the PlayStation Store posted by Reddit user PirateBlankFoul shows a message allegedly given to pre-order customers, where we heard Starbreeze has told PlayStation that the game is canceled. Refunds will now be issued, and pre-order listings have been removed from the store, according to the post.
But wait, because it turns out the console versions are not canceled. 505 Games has since taken to Twitter to "confirm that the game has not been cancelled, purely postponed whilst development is on-going. We will share further news as soon as possible."
This clarifies the matter then, and also implies that the Xbox version is included in this as well. Either way, it's the latest in a series of setbacks for the game, the performance of which was blamed on developers in an email from former Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson.
Are you still keen to play the game on consoles?
