Following a busy first stage, the Call of Duty League has officially wrapped up the first Major of the 2022 season. Hosted by the OpTic Texas franchise, the tournament saw each team competing over a double-elimination bracket, with the victor at the end of it all being none other than the hosts themselves.

That's right, after a gruelling and competitive weekend, the OpTic Texas have been crowned as Major 1 champions, following their commanding 5-2 win over the Atlanta Faze in the Major's grand finale.

This result secures OpTic as the number two team in the league currently, as the Faze are still just slightly ahead following a lossless first stage of regular play and also a Kickoff Classic victory.

As for what's next for the Call of Duty League, more games will be back this weekend, as regular season play in the lead up to Major 2 is taking place.

Sledgehammer Games' latest instalment into the long-running shooter series offers up some great improvements, but still feels a bit safe at its core.
