No Man's Sky gets new underwater update

The Abyss lands on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

No Man's Sky has just been given a new update, The Abyss, and it brings with it a number of features that make better use of the game's underwater environments, hopefully adding greater depth (pardon the terrible pun) to that portion of the game.

The update includes a story, The Dreams of the Deep, which has players working to "discover the fate of a troubled crew stranded from a freighter crash by the rising tides or explore underwater ruins to uncover the tale of a lost soul trapped deep beneath the waves."

We'll be able to do this via a new underwater vehicle, the Nautilon, and there are also new submersible building modules for players to tinker with. Add to that new flora and fauna, sunken wrecks and treasures to discover, and a general increase in overall richness and detail, and you've got a renewed focus on the underwater portion of the game as it continues to grow and expand, now on Xbox One as well as PC and PS4.
