Nintendo UK has just announced NintendoUKVS Live, a London event taking place from July 28 to 29 at the Royal Horticultural Halls, where both amateur and veteran esports players can compete in a selection of Nintendo's games.

What's more is that the first official qualifier for the Splatoon 2 UK Championship 2018 series will be held at the event, and will even be the first ever event in the UK and Ireland to host hands-on time with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

In terms of the Splatoon 2 UK Championship, this will be split into the Octo League and Inkling League for the first time, the former of which will be played in ranked game types as best-of-five matches, open to teams of all ages, while the latter is specifically for squads aged 13 and under, matches being played as best-of-three in the Turf War game type.

The grand final of the Championship will take place in Birmingham in November, seeing seven Octo League teams and four Inkling League teams battle it out to become the champions. Do you like Splatoon 2 esports?

"We had a lot of fun with our time in the game, although returning players will have to weigh up for themselves whether there's enough to warrant the upgrade."
