Nintendo gave us a heads up that an Indie Highlights show would be landing on YouTube this afternoon to give us a taste of some of the games heading to the Nintendo Switch this year, and they've certainly not disappointed, as you can tell from the full showcase below.

HQ

In the video above we get to see many games in action, including firstly Wargroove. Chucklefish's strategy game sees you engage in turn-based warfare with up to four players at once, and the art style alone makes us think this is a perfect fit for Switch. This will land on February 1 for £15.99.

Next up was Headbang Club's Double Kick Heroes, where zombies have overrun the world and metal music is the only thing that can save us all. If you want to play in a band while driving a car that shoots projectiles at everything from grunts to giant dinosaurs, then this might be the game for you when it lands in summer. We don't have a Switch price, but it costs £13.49 on Steam ($16.99).

When Ski Lifts Go Wrong is next, a game from Hugecalf Studios in which you build tracks for your subjects to follow and hope that they don't crash into chaos and destruction. The again, even if it does go wrong the cartoonish physics make it a load of fun to send skiers flying to their doom. It's not just skiers either, as cyclists, snowmobiles, and dirtbikes can get the painful treatment too. You can enjoy all of this right now on the Switch for £12.74 after a 15% price reduction from £14.99 (it's also $14.99 and 14.99 euros).

HopFrog's 2D exploration game Forager was featured next, and it's not just about base building and mining trees, as there are plenty of bad guys to beat and dungeons to crawl. It looks fast and fun and incorporates touchscreen controls nicely, although we don't have a solid release date for this on the Switch.

Goat Simulator is far from being a new game, but Coffee Stain Studios weird and wild ride is coming to Nintendo's console in the form of The Goaty version. This isn't just great news for goat fans on Switch, but it's also good news for everyone who's missed it so far, as it includes all DLC released to date. This is also available right now and will cost you £26.99 (29.99 euros).

Chucklefish has another game coming to the Switch in the form of Inmost, the spooky puzzle platformer with a dark world looking to bring its atmosphere to the Switch. We don't have a release other than 2019, but it did make its way onto our indie wishlist for 2019, so it's worth keeping an eye out for.

Magic Design Studios is bringing Unruly Heroes to the Switch this year as well. Take control of a colourful cast of characters through a bright and vibrant fantasy world full of intense platforming, and once more this is out right now for Nintendo's hybrid console at £17.99 (19.99 euros).

Retro fans have even more to look forward to on the Switch, as Deck13 Interactive's CrossCode is a real blast from the past, literally. In the short trailer we saw there was always colour filling the whole screen, and we can expect the action-RPG some time this year, although Nintendo couldn't be more specific.

SteamWorld Quest: The Hand of Gilgamech is perhaps the highlight of the show, as Image & Form Games title will come first to Nintendo Switch sometime this year. This is a turn-based game set in the same world and with a similar style to the others, and you can see the trailer on its own down below.

HQ

At the end we were given a look back at some of the best indies to grace the console so far, including Hollow Knight, Celeste, Overcooked 2, and a whole load more. There are certainly some strong indies on the Switch, and 2019 looks like it'll be an even stronger year for these kinds of experiences.

Which game is the highlight for you?
