Nintendo: "Extremely strong start" for Super Mario Party
And the party is just getting started.
Super Mario Party was released a month ago, the first real instalment in the long-running series since 2015. It's the 11th game if you don't count the portable spin-offs and it's also somewhat of a reboot that goes back to the basics of the first games. And obviously, this was what the community wanted as Nintendo has now revealed that the game is off to a very good start.
In its latest financial results briefing, Nintendo calls it an "evergreen" and writes:
"Global sell-through has exceeded 1.5 million units following its release on October 5. Super Mario Party had an extremely strong start compared to other instalments in the series and has built up momentum ahead of the holiday season. We are also seeing an increase in Joy-Con sell-through with the release of this title."
That's not too shabby for a party game like this, but we're not too surprised; as we wrote in our review, "it's a lot of fun to play with friends, and it'll even make big kids laugh until it hurts."
