It was only this morning that we reported on the European Smash Ball Team Cup competition coming to Europe this spring, but Nintendo has already revealed details about the Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2 North American Open events this year.

Released via an entry to Nintendo's online event page, details about how people can qualify for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate North American Open and Splatoon 2 North American Inkling Open have been announced. The qualifiers will be online, splitting players in the US, Canada, and Mexico into four regions where they can fight for free tickets, transport, and lodging at PAX East in Boston on March 28. The qualifiers are open to players 13 and older in the US and Canada, and over 18 in Mexico. If you want to enter you best hurry though, as the rules for the events state that there's a maximum of 2,048 entries per event.

The two tournaments work as follows:

. Players compete in individual qualifiers in order to proceed to the qualifier finals. For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, these are split into three events on February 2, February 16, and March 9, while Splatoon 2 has its qualifiers February 10.
. Teams will then compete in the qualifier finals, which will be livestreamed for people to watch. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has its qualifier finals February 9, March 2, and March 16, while Splatoon 2 has its qualifiers on March 2.
. The top three players of each region in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the best Splatoon 2 team in each region will then receive free entry to PAX East, where they will compete in the grand finals of their respective tournament. The winners of the PAX East tournaments will each receive a collectible valued at roughly $500 USD.

You can register for these competitions over on Nintendo's site, but will you be entering?
