Nintendo followed up the announcement of Metroid Prime 4 with another surprise for fans of the series, Metroid: Samus Returns, which is heading to Nintendo 3DS on September 15.
Described as "an action-packed, side-scrolling shooter", Nintendo says the game has drawn heavy influence from Metroid 2: Return of Samus, the 1991 Game Boy classic. Mercury Steam has been confirmed as the game's developer.
