Surprise announcement for the new installment of the 'Blox' franchise. It sports a freemium model, but looks worth the price of admission.

Simultaneous announcement and release. Fullblox, the third installment in the 'Blox' series of puzzles created by Intelligent Systems, is available now for download on Nintendo 3DS via eShop.

After Pullblox and Fallblox, the new game adds a new twist to the push/pull puzzle mechanics, with new 3D movement and control options for the pieces, new elements such as trap doors and enemies and a revamped studio tool.

But the most 'shocking' new feature is the freemium nature of the game that includes in-app purchases. You can download Fullblox and play the tutorial for free, but then you'll need to spend some money on the real game modes. There's a story mode with 100 puzzles of all types, an item-shaped mode (objects, plants, animals) with 50 puzzles, an extreme, challenging mode with 50 puzzles filled of enemies and finally a retro mode with 50 mid-high difficulty challenges. This is split like an amusement park, with purchasable admissions for each area, and you get the puzzle editor as a bonus with any pack.

Our review will be available on site very soon, but we can tell you in advance that the freemium-IAP model doesn't appear to be unfair, and that you can indeed tailor your experience based on tastes or get some good value if you purchase the full pack.

REVIEW. Written by Ignacio Reinosa

"Fullblox is an experience that is totally worth getting for one or all of its modes. Each player can find the mix that fits them the best."
