Swedish developers Poppermost Productions have announced plans for a Cry Engine 3 powered free-to-play open world skiing and snowboarding title called Snow.
An early version of the game is aimed for release later this year, and inviting players to take part in the development the developers are hoping that player feedback will dictate the direction that project takes from there on.
"As a group of lifetime skiers and snowboarders, we are constantly on the lookout for new ski and snowboard titles. From 1080° Snowboarding to more recent games like Shaun White: Snowboarding, Stoked and SSX, we have always enjoyed riding down virtual slopes. We never felt, however, that these games were true enough to the sport. They offered at best somewhat realistic experiences and usually completely ignored skiing. This troubled us. So, we went about to fix it.
SNOW is the winter sports answer to the popularity of SKATE. This is a game about powder, about drops, about chutes and spines. This is your whiteout day or your bluebird delight. If you ever wanted an authentic freeride and freestyle ski and snowboard game, here it is."
