Geoff Keighley hosting livestream to open Gamescom

Gamescom: Opening Night Live will feature developers, publishers, world premieres, and more when it airs in Cologne this August.

Geoff Keighley, perhaps most famous for creating The Game Awards, will be hosting a show this year called Gamescom: Opening Night Live, which will celebrate the start of the German event with a stream airing in front of over 1,000 fans in Cologne.

This will let fans know what to expect during the show, featuring announcements from publishers and developers, world premieres of gameplay footage, and guest appearances, a bit like The Game Awards.

"Gaming is a shared passion around the world, and every time I attend Gamescom I am energized by the passion and excitement from the community in Cologne. The team and I are thrilled to be in Europe this summer to produce this show and share Gamescom with the global video game audience," Keighley said.

Gamescom: Opening Night Live will be streamed on August 19 at 20:00 CEST (19:00 BST), and more information is coming later in the year.
