A new report over at Siliconera has spotted some patents filed by Sony for PSVR that point to some interesting features relating to virtual spectatorship, coming from 2017 and 2018.

The first patent is all about letting players join a live event by putting those with a PSVR headset in the "real-world venue" remotely, at which point the event is then streamed to the PSVR user, who can watch it as if they were there in the space.

The second, however, is all about spectating other players in their game, putting them as NPCs to watch what's going on.

Now these are just patents, and as we've seen with other patents in the past, this doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to become a reality in the future, although it does point to Sony looking at ideas around spectatorship with PSVR, whether that's with other gamers or live events.

Would you watch live events or your buddies using PSVR?
