As far as shooting games go, Rainbow Six: Siege is a pretty serious affair. It has to be, right? You don't get far in the tactical game unless you really put your mind to it and cut the jokes, although Ubisoft is bringing a bit more light-heartedness to the game with the latest limited-time event, called Rainbow is Magic.

This event sees you rescue a hostage (a teddy bear, actually) from a revamped version of the Plane map, complete with colourful decorations, unicorn drawings, and all things lovely and nice. This event is in honour of April Fools' Day, and runs from April 1 to 8, much like other projects that have started as an April Fools joke but turned into a reality.

There are 17 new exclusive items (without duplicate drops) as well, including full outfits and headgear for Smoke, Montagne, Blackbeard, and the cutest of Operators, Tachanka.

To rescue this teddy bear hostage you'll need the best Operators around, and you'll be pleased to know that the 13 Operators you can choose from have been reimagined as toys, including Recruit, Montagne, Blackbeard, Ash, Thermite, Thatcher, Sledge, Smoke, Castle, Kapkan, Bandit, Frost, and Tachanka.

It's certainly a blast of colour, and the limited-time customisation items are no different. Players that log in during the event will get one Rainbow from the new Magic Collection Pack, and you can earn more by completing Ubisoft Club Challenges, or buy them for 300 R6 Credits. The Fool's Challenge, for example, gets you free a Rainbow is Magic Collection Pack.

"It's in competitive multiplayer where the game shines. The matches are short, intense and always surprising."
