We've been waiting for Firestorm to land in Battlefield V since the game launched, and it's finally here as of today, March 25, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. However, DICE has also taken this as a good opportunity to reveal some plans for the rest of the year as the studio looks to enhance the original offering with new maps, modes, and more.

As part of the current chapter - Trial by Fire - we're also getting another mode variation, Grind, and a new map set on Crete called Mercury (and that's dropping in May). The new mode variant is a twist on Conquest that is going to focus on "smaller teams, intense combat zones, and fewer objectives." After that, we're getting another mode variation called Fortress (also in May) and a new mode called Outpost (in June).

As you can see in the graphic below, Chapter 4: Defying the Odds is set to launch in June, and it's coming with a new 5v5 competitive mode and a new map called Marita, which takes place in 1940 during the Battle of Greece (and there's another with a working title of Urban Combat).

Finally, Awakening the Giant is the name of the fifth chapter, and that one will take players to a new theatre of war when it lands in the autumn. Apparently, the title is a quote from movie Tora! Tora! Tora!, prompting speculation among fans that we'll be heading to the Pacific later this year.

There are more details about some the impending content drops right here, so follow the link if you want to know more about the mode variations and maps coming to the game.

REVIEW. Written by Kim Orremark

"All the work DICE has done in renewing the core mechanics has resulted in an experience that feels tighter than it has done for many years."
