Before PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds launched in Steam Early Access on March 23, 2017, if you'd asked someone what a battle royale was, a few people would've mentioned the Japanese movie which inspired the concept, although most would have looked at you with a blank stare before getting on with their day.

It's fair to say that everyone knows what a battle royale is by now, and that's thanks in large part to the efforts of Bluehole Studio, Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene, and the game they created, PUBG.

That game has this weekend celebrated its second birthday, and to mark the occasion the studio has offered up something that gamers seem to enjoy rather more than they should: a new in-game hat! That's right, for a limited time you can jump into the store and there you'll find a limited edition baseball cap that the studio has released to mark this auspicious occasion.

The studio also shared a message from studio chief CH Kim, and it posted an open letter to the community thanking everyone for their involvement, as well as detailing the work that has gone into the game since it launched and confirming that the team is still hard at work on improvements to the game's first and original map, Erangel.
