Apex Legends Season 01 drops with new character Octane

Starting tomorrow, Respawn's shooter lands a bunch of new content for players to try and unlock in the weeks ahead.

Respawn Entertainment is about to drop Season 01 content for Apex Legends, and in the process, the studio is expanding the game with a load of new content for players to unlock in the coming weeks, starting on March 19.

Specifically, as players progress they can earn a bunch of themed rewards. With more than 100 items to unlock, including weapon skins, banner frames, and XP boosts, there's going to be plenty to work towards. On top of that, anyone who buys the Battle Pass will auto-unlock three Wild Frontier-themed Legend skins.

The pass in question costs 950 Apex Coins, and if you're feeling lavish you can unlock the Battle Pass Bundle for 2,800 Apex Coins. That said, Respawn reckons that you can level the pass enough to earn the coins you need to unlock the next one for free, so there are options if you don't want to keep paying out every season.

Finally, there's the not-so-small matter of Octane, the newest character dropping into the free-to-play battle royale shooter. This metal-legged fighter "trades health for speed" and you'll be able to use his so-called Launch Pad Ultimate Ability to move the team around the map. Sounds like he's going to be a tricky customer in the right hands.
