There has been a lot of talk about Metro Exodus over the last few days, and it actually has very little to do with the game itself. First of all we had received loads of details about the PC version of 4A Games' title, but then we heard that an exclusivity deal had been signed with the Epic Games Store, something which raised a few eyebrows to say the least.
Publisher Deep Silver is owned by THQ Nordic, who has just taken to Twitter to talk about the decision and distributor Koch Media, saying that it isn't their place to comment on it.
"The decision to publish Metro Exodus as a timed Epic Store exclusive was made entirely on Koch Media's side as Metro is their intellectual property. They are a sister company of THQ Nordic (Vienna), which is the reason why we can and will not comment on this matter. We do not want to categorically exclude the possibility of timed exclusives for any of our games in the future, but speaking in the here and now, we definitely want to have the players choose the platform of their liking and make our portfolio available to as many outlets as possible," the statement reads.
We've only just reported today that physical pre-orders of the game on PC will now be coming with an Epic key too, but it'd be safe to say that the conversation regarding Metro's decision to stick with the Epic Store (for a year, with the game arriving to Steam in February 2020) won't be dying down any time soon.
What do you make of the whole situation?
