While a fair amount of Fortnite players are dedicated to the battle royale mode, there is still a following around the Save the World mode, and Epic has now announced a big change for loot in the game, specifically regarding the V-Buck Llamas.
"We believe it's important that the Llamas you buy have what you want, and that you can earn awesome items just for logging in and playing," Epic explains, and this latest announcement is part of their ongoing attempts to refine the way that you collect items. We've previously seen the Collection Book, Llama dupe prevention, and gameplay-based rewards for events, and now we have X-Ray Llamas.
These replace the V-Buck Llamas with the upgrade, which show the contents before you buy, so if you don't want what's there you can just wait until the daily store refreshes. This is coming with update v7.30, and the prices will stay the same. You can still earn Llamas through playing the game, and any item can come from the cheapest Llama, with the items offered being based on your account so as to apply dupe prevention.
What this means is that the Llama will determine the item rarity and type of drop before selecting an item from that category that's not already either in your inventory or Collection Book. You don't even need to rely on Llamas either, as specific items can still be directly bought too.
That said, you'll no longer be able to buy multiple V-Buck Llamas at once, and the Mini and Event Llamas won't change into X-Ray versions.
To try out the new system all Save the World players will get five free Llamas upgrade tokens to try it out. You can even see how it'll look in-game via the screenshots below.
Will you be doing this?
