David Jaffe is a well-known game developer, helping create series such as God of War and Twisted Metal, and now he's hosting a YouTube channel in which he chats and comments on the world of video games. For example, last year he talked about how AAA games are dying as he's seeing the same content time and time again, so he tackles pretty big topics.
Well, in a recent livestream entitled "Gamers LOVE Games With Microtransactions!", he had the opportunity to talk about the phenomenon of microtransactions too, which has become a very hot topic of discussion in recent years.
Jaffe says he's against this practice, especially those that affect gameplay, but adds that the numbers show that this type of business has been accepted by a lot of players. To give a concrete example of this, he has in fact drawn up a ranking of the best-selling games on PS4 in 2018, where only three out of 10 games did not have microtransactions.
According to Jaffe it seems that it's only a small minority of hardcore gamers who don't like this business and that, as a result, big companies won't stop using them in their games. Would you agree with this conclusion?
