In December, a thief managed to get access to early retail versions of Kingdom Hearts III, which made many fans worried about spoilers a month before the game was expected to came out. Game Director Tetsuya Nomura said back then that important scenes will be released at launch, and now Square Enix has finalised these plans.
Kingdom Hearts III will be released on January 29 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and that day the so-called memory archive will arrive in the game via an update. This video should summarise the previous events of the series to get people started with a better understanding of the situation.
One day later - on January 30 - the epilogue will be released, although players must first complete the game and see the end before they can watch this epilogue and see further events. A secret ending will follow on January 31, but it's hidden behind certain conditions that players must meet in order to get access. Square Enix explains that people must play on specific difficulties and make certain decisions in one playthrough to experience the secret ending.
The studio confirmed in their series of posts that it isn't mandatory to download these optional extras in order to see the end of Kingdom Hearts III, as the game should be a complete experience even without an internet connection.
Will you try for the secret ending?
