The expansion brought a lot of interest back to Bungie's shooter, but now this boost has worn off and numbers have waned.

The spur in "engagement and monetisation" of Destiny 2's Forsaken expansion has worn off, it would appear, as VG247 reports that data from SuperData Research indicates the popularity of Bungie's shooter has returned to the same level as before the release of the Forsaken expansion.

Last month Activision already revealed "other franchises like Destiny are not performing as well as we'd like" and "while Forsaken is a high-quality expansion with strong engagement and new modes of play, it did not achieve our commercial expectations".

Bungie has revealed their content plans for Destiny 2's upcoming year however, and keeps supporting the title, so it's not setting alarm bells ringing just yet.
