A new update for Fallout 76 was expected next Tuesday, December 18, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but Bethesda has now announced that they will only launch the update on PC on that day. Both console versions will get the same update on Thursday, December 20, to ensure the patch implementation goes as smoothly as possible:

"This is to allow further testing on consoles, where we can't hotfix unintended issues as quickly as we can on PC."

Bethesda is probably working to prevent the introduction of new problems caused by their own patches, as has happened on occasion.
