Far Cry: New Dawn was one the games that headlined The Game Awards in LA last night/this morning, with Ubisoft lifting taking the opportunity to lift the lid on the standalone sequel to Far Cry 5 and its bold new setting.

We have to admit, we knew a bit about the game a little ahead of time, after Ubisoft invited us to a pre-show demo where we got to see the game in action and talk to its creative director, Jean-Sebastien Decant.

"It's set in a post-apocalyptic America," Decant told us in London, "17 years after a global nuclear apocalypse. And you play a brand new character whose mission is to help a group of survivors that is facing a new and vicious threat - it's the Highwaymen and their unruly leaders, Mickey and Lou the twins."

During the interview Decant also told us about the saw-blade ("the craziest weapon we've ever created"), as well as the expeditions that will take players to different areas beyond the confines of Hope County (the setting for this game and Far Cry 5), the new setup for outposts and how that'll change the battle for control over an area, and much more about how the post-apocalyptic setting will change thing up for the series.

Far Cry: New Dawn is heading to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 15, and you can read much more about it right here.
