As Disney prepares to launch its own streaming channel next year in the form of Disney+, it has continued the process of untangling its various IPs from the control of rival streaming platforms.

The latest show to get cancelled in its current form is Netflix series Daredevil, which has now come to a close after its third season. Whether the show will return on Disney's channel is probably down to the lawyers more than anyone else, but judging from the response to the news on social media there seems to be a desire from both fans and crew to see the story continue.

"Man, so weird to be in the Daredevil writers room today, getting the news that we're cancelled," writer Sam Ernst commented. "On the walls were an entire season 4 laid out - and it was so f***g cool. So many moments we wanted the fans to see... Sigh, this business."

Netflix also put out a short statement, where a company rep wrote that "while the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel."

The move to cancel Daredevil follows similar cancellations for both Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
