After a shaky launch and many missing features, Hello Games has worked hard to get No Man's Sky back on track and flesh it out. Work that has paid off as it is now a quite different game than it was when it originally launched in August 2016.
Most recently they launched the Abyss update which focused on the underwater content last month, but work on the next big update already seems well underway. An unlisted Youtube video on the official Hello Games channel shows "Visions", update 1.75, which adds plenty more variation to the game. Here's how it is described by Hello Games: "new environmental biomes, new planet types, more colourful worlds, new fauna and flora, archaeology, salvaging, and much more..." In particular, the update seems to cater to those who enjoy rare collectables, as both archeology and the ability to collect exotic trophies you can display in your base. But in general, it will add a lot more visual and gameplay variation to the game.
