The popular simulation/real-time strategy franchise Anno moves into the future with upcoming Anno 2070. A bit of a surprise to fans of the genre, but Related Designs, who have been developing the game with Ubisoft owned Blue Byte (Settlers) promises to adhere to the what's core to the franchise.

Players will get to choose one of two factions, Tycoons and Ecos, an efficient and industrial route or a more sustainable and environmentally sound path. The game world will change dynamically depending on player choices and strategies. Specifically your choices will impact the environment and architecture.

"Anno 2070 is a very ambitious game that will feel both familiar and fresh to fans of the series," said Caroline Stevens, EMEA Brand Director at Ubisoft. "Due to the game's futuristic setting, the development team wasn't restricted by historical boundaries and was able to dream bigger than ever before. It's a new take on a great franchise that both newcomers and longtime fans will love."

Anno 2070 is set to hit PC next winter.
