CD Projekt Red has been quite open about the fact that, while Cyberpunk 2077 is built as a single-player experience, they would like to add multiplayer at some point after the initial release. Well, just recently they unveiled a new partnership with Digital Scapes, which might be an effort to secure that happening.
Through a press release sent to Gamereactor, CD Projekt Red explained they've secured a strategic "long-term partnership" with Digital Scapes, but what they will actually provide is unclear. The press release itself describes it as "creating and optimising technological solutions for use in the development of Cyberpunk 2077," but Digital Scapes' primary strength is developing multiplayer for games just like Cyberpunk 2077, with the studio describing itself as "a video game development studio specialising in bespoke PvP gameplay for AAA PC and console titles."
Speaking of console titles, just recently CD Projekt Red clarified that Cyberpunk 2077 has been optimised for consoles since the very beginning of its development.
Digital Scapes looks like a good fit, but what would you be looking for in Cyberpunk multiplayer?
