This year marked the 10 year anniversary of Gamescom, the most visited gaming event in the world, and an estimated 370,000 visitors came to Koelnmesse over the course of 5 days last week (breaking the previous record by 15,000). The visitors came from 114 countries and the show had 31,200 trade visitors.

"The plus of 15,000 visitors and the increased number of countries impressively underlines the great international charisma of gamescom and the increasing interest in this unique 360 degree experience event. With an exhibitor plus of around 13 percent, it presented an unprecedented offering. Thanks to the presentations of world premieres and hundreds of games highlights, gamescom convinced as a platform for new products", said Gerald Böse, president and CEO of Koelnmesse GmbH via press release.

There were 1,037 exhibitors (compared to 919 in 2017) from 56 countries. Gamescom started in 2009 as the German industry moved their big event away from Leipzig where Games Convention or GamesCon had taken place for many years prior.

As usual, Gamereactor had a large team present at the Koelnmesse, and below you can check out our closing thoughts on the show.
