We all know Pokémon is popular, having grossed over $59 billion USD in revenue since its infancy, and now it seems that Pokémon cards might be more of a sound investment than gold or stocks, since an unopened box of Pokémon cards from 1999 was sold for a whopping $56,000 just recently.
This happened at an open auction over at Huggins & Scott, and the box was a first edition limited base set containing 11 card packs, where each pack delivers 5 common, 3 uncommon, 2 Energy, and 1 Rare or Foil card.
Perhaps one of the reasons for the high selling price is that the box may contain the fabled Holographic Charizard, a card that netted $55,000 on its own last year. Did you collect these cards?
