Even though it's called GRIS (we yet have to figure out the acronym, but that means 'grey' in Spanish), the delicate 2D puzzle-platformer by Barcelona-based Nomada Studio - which will be published by Devolver Digital in December - is all about serene and splendid colour.
Described as a "serene and evocative narrative experience," as shown by the trailer and screens below, GRIS looks like a calm platformer with the occasional puzzle, covered by prominent, fine music and artwork.
The relaxed tone transcends to the gameplay itself as players are freed of "danger, frustration or death," but a little challenge will come in the level design itself, with new paths and abilities to unlock. Gris is also the fitting name of the female protagonist, "a hopeful young girl lost in her own world, dealing with a painful experience in her life", as the game's narrative revolves around the concept of sorrow.
GRIS is the debut title by Nomada Studio and will release on both Nintendo Switch and PC. Have you been captivated by its style?
