Insomniac Games hasn't been shy in showing off Spider-Man to the world in the months leading up to release, and when we got the chance to look at the game again in Copenhagen very recently, we talked with Chief Brand Officer Ryan Schneider about what they're showing, which turns out to encapsulate the entire philosophy very well.

"Today journalists are having an opportunity to play the first part of the game and see for themselves what we're trying to do in terms of telling a human story as part of a superhuman experience," he told us.

As part of this narrative there are a ton of characters, from villains to allies, so we also asked how they manage to make the story work with all these moving parts:

"The Marvel universe is a very big one, and we're very fortunate to collaborate with Marvel Games and Sony to be able to bring them to life, and that process is really something that I think was one of the more fun and memorable parts of developing the game. We chose the characters we wanted to work with very carefully, and we feel like each of them has an important role in the story and we've brought them in for specific reasons to help drive the narrative."

With regards to the stories we'll see in the open world though, and whether there'll be any familiar narratives, Schneider said:

"Well, you're gonna see a lot in the open world. I think it's important to point out how large the open world actually is in Marvel's Manhattan. For those of you who have played Sunset Overdrive on Xbox One, the Manhattan that we're showing in Marvel's Spider-Man is several times larger, so you can imagine there's all kinds of activities."

"Some of my favourites include looking for backpacks around the city that Spider-Man has strewn about over the years. You know, he's been Spider-Man for eight years, this is a different Spider-Man than people have experienced in the past. He's not the high school age Peter Parker, so there's a lot to collect and learn about and maybe there are a few easter eggs that will be familiar."

What do you want to see from the game in terms of story?

"The Heist is not a particularly impressive or memorable expansion, but it's fun and it comes with some interesting moments."
