Romance is a staple part of The Witcher series, with leading man Geralt partial to taking the odd tumble while out on his adventures. The scoundrel.
CD Projekt Red is going to take a similar approach to romance in its Cyberpunk RPG, although given how players will be able to create their own characters and choose their gender, things are going to be a lot less binary in the year 2077.
In our interview with writer Stanisław Święcicki, it was confirmed that players can expect plenty of romantic options in the game, with the studio hoping to facilitate relationships between the players and the characters they meet. That said, these relationships will be very much defined by the player.
"We plan to give you characters which you'll meet on your path which will assist you, which will be your antagonist, and we want you to be able to develop emotional relations with them," Święcicki told Gamereactor.
"And when it comes to the people you romance with, well... it's a dark world and it's a fast-paced world, so it's up to you to decide whether you're up for one night stands and fast-paced romances, or long-term relationships. And it's going to be up to you, and because we're giving you the opportunity to create the character you want and choose the gender it will go beyond just heterosexual relationships."
When we'll be romancing in Cyberpunk 2077 we do not know, but we'll be able to do it on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
