Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 5's expansion called Hours of Darkness will release on June 5 on all platforms, putting players into the shoes of Wendell 'Red' Redler in the Vietnam War, and the good news is that it can even be purchased as a standalone DLC, although those with the game's gold edition and season pass are also guaranteed to get it.

You can play the "harrowing experience" in either solo or co-op, featuring new abilities and gear as well as two playable modes unlocked after completing the DLC, one of which is Survivor Mode, giving you a limited loadout for a deeper challenge, while Action Movie Mode goes the other way, giving you loads of gear for over-the-top carnage.

Vietnam-themed assets have also landed in Far Cry Arcade already, and all future DLCs will also come with similar thematic assets added to Arcade for free. What's more is that you can listen to the soundtrack for the expansion already at this link, so you don't have to wait until June 5 for all the new content.

Will you be getting this on day one?

"The end of the world may be approaching, but at least you'll have a diabetic grizzly bear named Cheeseburger as your companion."
