Death Stranding "needs collaboration" from players

"The whole concept of playing the game, as I understand, needs collaboration from different people from different parts of the world, which is also another level of fantastic-ness."

The quote comes from actor Mads Mikkelsen, speaking to TotalFilm, as he was presenting Arctic at Cannes. But he wasn't talking about anything to do with the film, rather he was referencing Death Stranding, a game by Hideo Kojima and featuring Norman Reedus.

And just like everything related to this PS4 exclusive (previous trailers and clues included) it means more fuel added to the fires of speculation. Will the game actually require the involvement of players from different parts of the world? If so, how much impact will this have on the story?

Kojima-san himself will have to explain how all this works in the future, because other than the cryptic comment from Mikkelsen he mostly talked about mo-cap and performing infront of the blue wall.

"It's been a little surreal because obviously there's nothing. We do everything. It's mo-cap. But the storyboard is so immaculate," Mikkelsen told the same mag. "He (Kojima) tries to explain it again and again and again, and I thought I had it, but then this happens and I've lost it again. It's too complicated. It's too crazy. It's too beautiful. It felt a bit like being in drama school: 'Just jump in and improvising this scene. This is what happens. Don't question it.'"
