Everyone knows that Nintendo has never been very keen on people hacking their consoles, and this doesn't look like it's changing with regards to the Nintendo Switch either. In fact, it seems that the Japanese company has already begun to take serious action against those players who have hacked their hybrid console, banning them from their online services.

As reported by Nintendo Everything (who collected some tweets online of some users affected by the ban) those who have carried out hacking operations, perhaps simply to take advantage of homebrew software, have been banned from online services. More specifically, if these players try to access these services, they receive the error 2124-4007, which in practice excludes them from eShop and the ability to play online and interact with friends on their friend list. However, the news section and the possibility of updating their hardware/ software is still there.

There are also similar reports from players who haven't made any changes to their console too, so it's unclear whether this ban affects the console specifically or the user's account, and it may well be that if you've been caught in the past it may affect your Switch now.

Is this a fitting move from Nintendo?
