The open beta for the new multiplayer mode for Stardew Valley is upon us, and players can sample the new online features starting from today. Developer ConcernedApe and publisher Chucklefish have shared details on the new content update, including some rather helpful advice on how to back up your save file (as it's a work in progress, there are risks involved in terms of compatibility - that's why they're also asking players to turn off any mods they're using).

Stardew Valley is a charming pixelart farming sim that surprised plenty of people when it was released back in 2016. Since then the title has built up a huge community of dedicated players, and online multiplayer has been top of their collective wishlist for some time now. Good things come to those who wait, it would seem, as now you can invite up to three players to join you on your farm.

You can get involved and trial the 1.3 update yourself by finding the properties tab on the game's library listing on Steam. Simply head to the beta tab and input the code "jumpingjunimos." As mentioned before, just make sure to back-up your save. More details on how to do that and more can be found here.

"Even though Stardew Valley merges many themes together, it has been done seamlessly."
