Developer Housemarque, known from titles as Super Stardust HD, Resogun, and Nex Machina, has announced Stormdrivers, a new multiplayer game which the studio has been working on for the last two years.
It is the " the first title that we treat as an on-going service", Housemarque wrote. Which is one of the reasons that players will be able to play the game "earlier and we'd love to develop it further with a feedback loop in mind". This suggests we get could see the game in early access of some sort.
Talking to Eurogamer at the Reboot Develop conference, head of publishing Mikael Haveri said "You can compare it to a lot of the multiplayer experiences you have now", and after suggesting a Battle Royale game, Haveri replied by saying: "That's a very good assumption."
Stormdrivers is being built using the Unreal Engine, like Matterfall was before it, and we could see the game this year on PC and consoles: "It's not far away but we're not in a hurry to push it to market before it's done. Hopefully still this year but maybe, to be cautious, we shouldn't say it's going to be this year."
