Hollowpoint is a game that mixes both 2D platforming with frantic action, and we spoke with Red Kite Games' creative director Dave Roberts in London about the interesting mix between 2D and 3D, and where the idea for that approach came from.

"Well I think for us it's something, like with Hollowpoint - what's always appealed to me is taking, like you say, the classic elements of 2D shooters and pretty much and bringing it up to the likes of what a shooter's considered to be, and I think by giving these different perspectives we can really have the intensity of that shooter action, but then you do have a 3D world that you can interact with. And as I said, being able to man turrets and go down the zipline and really explore the world is like, we really want to give these areas a sense of depth and place and I think with the action we can really make intense, but at the same time make it so that it's not overwhelming."

"So that's the key thing we're looking to do - just have this really fun to play experience but with the visuals that players will expect of a big title."

Do you think this mix of elements works for Hollowpoint, from what you've seen?
