While at PAX East this weekend we caught up with Limbic Entertainment's game designer Dan Singleton to learn more about their in-development survival game Memories of Mars. Our first question had to do with the choice of setting.

"If we look a pop culture nowadays, if you look at Google... it's probably one of most searched things ever so that helps in the first place. Besides, who doesn't want to play on Mars? We've got The Martian coming out, you've got all these sorts of movies on Mars, so how about instead of watching it, you can now play and be on it instead."

Other subjects covered with the artistic license the developers have taken with Mars itself and the alliance system. The game is slated for closed beta in the coming weeks with an Early Access launch pencilled in for June or thereabouts.

We recently spent some time with the alpha build of the game and you can catch up on our impressions in this article.
