There was a lot of news about State of Decay 2 last week. We both got the May 22 release date confirmed and also learned more about the progression system. Now Undead Labs and Microsoft is continuing the announcement spree by revealing a pretty impressive Collector's Edition that launches alongside the game.
The Collector's Edition comes with a steelbook case, a stand for it in the shape of a human brain, a USB drive looking like a severed thumb and a wearable zombie mask that looks surprisingly scary. The only thing that isn't included is... the game itself. This package will retail för $69,99 in the US (no European price confirmed) and you will of course also need to buy the Standard Edition of the game for $29,99 to get something to put in the steelbook.
We assume this fairly new practice of not including the games in the Collector's Editions (Battlefield 1, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Halo 5: Guardians and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard all had Collector's Editions without games, to name a few) comes from the fact that many people buy the game digitally and don't want to pay for the game twice. Still, call us conservative, but it still feels a bit weird to us. What do you think?
