Oculus Rift headsets worldwide stopped working yesterday

Security certificate lapsed, but the issue should be solved now.

Yesterday Oculus Rift owners over the world experienced an issue that prevented them from starting up their VR headset. Error messages such as "Can't Reach Oculus Runtime Service", and "Failed to initialize with Oculus: Signature Invalid", plagued players who wanted to immerse themselves in virtual worlds. Apparently, a security certificate that Oculus uses to ensure that players are receiving updates from them had lapsed.

Thankfully, Oculus Customer Support now reports the issue is resolved, but it is a stark reminder that our modern day technology is rather vulnerable.
