State of Decay's sequel is on the way, and now Microsoft has updated the Xbox page for the upcoming game with some new information, revealing that it'll be an open world adventure where you can build your very own base and decide what features it will have in post-apocalyptic America

It's up to you to build your base, develop your characters, and manage resources to survive as a group, all of which is made clear in the following description:

"In State of Decay 2, your base is more than just a place for your survivors to sleep at night. It's your sanctuary, offering protection against the hungry dead lurking beyond the wall. It's your command post, where you plan the perfect zombie-killing strategies. Most of all, it's a manifestation of your personal long-term survival strategies as you customise it with your ideal facilities and improvements. Will you build a watch tower or plant a garden? An infirmary or a workshop? How will you choose to carve out a small slice of civilisation from the chaotic apocalypse?"

The customisation also applies to the survivors you'll meet, and with an RPG progression system for the characters you can choose which capabilities will best suit yourself and your community. Also, the game is playable in co-op with up to three friends, but can of course also be enjoyed solo if that's what you prefer.

It seems like there will be consequences to the choices we make in the game too, as "in the zombie apocalypse, you must create your own moral code. Every decision has lasting consequences that you must face. How you decide to survive may surprise you."

As we recently reported State of Decay 2 will launch on May 22 for PC and Xbox One, and we'll have two editions to choose from; Standard and Ultimate. The last one gives you four days early access to the game, but also "a code for the original State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition, and codes for two add-on content packs: Independence Pack and Daybreak Pack". If you pre-order either one you'll also get something called a Prepper's Pack which includes "Grasscutter melee weapon, an exclusive vehicle and an assortment of necessary survival supplies and abilities".

Has this built your anticipation for State of Decay 2 even more?
