They're not just literary favourites, Asterix and Obelix are well-known characters in the realm of video games too, and that extends back to the very beginning of our industry. The IP rolled from one hand to another, coming to almost every console and handheld, starting with the Atari 2600. But the flow stopped with the last generation, and so there are no games for current platforms apart from a smaller film-based game for Nintendo 3DS, released by Big Ben Interactive in 2014.
Obviously, that's not how this story ends as Anuman Interactive will bring the famous Gauls back this year. The French publisher reached an licence agreement with Les Éditions Albert René for several games, and Microïds will release the first one in the 4th quarter of 2018. No word on style, platforms or story was given, but we'll update you once we've heard more.
