Nintendo legend Takehiro Izushi has retired

A key talent behind multiple Game & Watch titles as well as the most recent Smash Bros.

  • Text: Jonas Mäki

Although not one of the household names from Nintendo, Takehiro Izushi has worked at the company since 1975 and been involved in almost every Game & Watch game created (he programmed the hugely successful dual screen Donkey Kong) as well as several games in Fire Emblem and Pokémon series, and he was also one of the main players behind Super Smash Bros for Wii U (and Nintendo 3DS).

But after 43 years of defining and changing the video game business, the time has come for Izushi to retire. This is of course something we really think think legend deserves and we want to thank him for everything he has done for this industry.

Thanks, Go Nintendo.
