There was uncertainty surrounding whether or not Daniel Craig would ever return as the British superspy James Bond, and there was a whole lot of speculation about who might end up being his successor. Even with Craig confirming that he's doing another movie, the speculation surrounding who will play Ian Fleming's iconic agent hasn't slowed. Some people have expressed an interest in seeing a female James Bond, but the wife of Daniel Craig, the Academy Award-winning actress Rachel Weisz, thinks this is a bad idea and explains why to The Telegraph, saying she'd rather have new stories about women instead:
"Fleming devoted an awful lot of time to writing this particular character, who is particularly male and relates in a particular way to women. Why not create your own story rather than jumping on to the shoulders and being compared to all those other male predecessors? Women are really fascinating and interesting and should get their own stories."
Actors like Idris Elba, Chris Hemsworth, and Gillian Anderson have all said they would like to play James Bond, but no plans regarding what's coming after the upcoming movie have been revealed. Craig's next Bond movie premieres on November 8, 2019.
Do you agree with Weisz, and who would you like to see as the next James Bond?
