Electronic Arts has published numbers about their earnings in Q3 FY18 (the third fiscal quarter), which ended on December 31 2017, and here we find out that the company's net loss of revenue was $186 million USD compared to only $1 million in the previous year.

As a whole EA still made a profit of $1.16 billion though, even if "Packaged Goods" revenue declined 18% ($380 million). There was also an expected boost in "Digital" revenue, as there was a 14% rise ($780 million), and in fact, during this Q3, EA's digital revenue as a whole made up 67% of their entire earnings.

It was also mentioned in the report that Star Wars Battlefront II's single-player portion has been played by 70% of the people who have played the game, and that FIFA's console community grew to 42 million by the end of the year. Of this number FIFA Mobile alone added 26 million players, and on the other hand FIFA Ultimate Team's player numbers grew 12% between the launch of FIFA 18 and the end of this third quarter.

Were you surprised that EA made such a loss?

REVIEW. Written by Mike Holmes

"It never gets boring watching Yoda rip through enemy lines with his lightning-quick lightsaber (as long as he's on your side, of course)."
